Frequently Asked Questions about Development Timeline

Web Site Development Timeline

Thank you for signing on with the Metanet.net. The time has come for us to develop your website. Below you will find a timeline that let's you gauge the development cycle for your website.

You "come aboard" the program. Welcome!

Your Domain Name will be registered and set up on our servers. The domain will be traditionally set up on a server running Solaris or Red Hat Linux. An under construction page will be posted to the site within 72 hours of Internic confirming your domain has been registered and the primary and secondary servers are pointing to the Metanet.net Servers.

Metanet.net production department awaits the arrival of your material to begin development on your site. If the material has not arrived after 30 days of signing on with the program, a courtesy letter will be sent to clients and remind them to send the material in promptly.

Once the material is received at the Metanet.net it will be processed by a production associate and a call will be made to the client to the discuss the contents of the material that was sent in for development. The Metanet.net utilizes a PC platform and thus does not support the Macintosh platform. If material is sent in the Macintosh format then we will have to convert the disks to PC format and an additional charge will be incurred.

All material must be in-house for us to being production on the site. We ask that the client gather together any information available that will be used to create the site. If additional material is being submitted at a later date by a client then production will be halted until all materials are in-house. It helps to keep the development of the site organized. We cannot accept responsibility for material that comes in under separate cover or through e-mail. Please mail all material in to our office at:

    Metanet.net
    9775 SW 87th Ave
    Miami, FL 33176 USA
via First class mail or UPS.

Material cannot come in sporadically. All material will have to be in-house for us to begin production. This will obviously cause a delay. If we can make a suggestion, it would be best if all material is packaged together as a complete package. If you don't know what to get together, it's better to have more than not enough. We will be there to go through the material with you personally to decide what information you want to include on your site. At that point the material is given to the student/webmaster for production to begin on the site. That process generally takes 3-4 weeks. Some of that cycle is shown below:

    • Webmaster is given the site to develop
    • Webmaster lays out site using a storyboarding technique
    • Design/Research/Layout
    • Scanning images and cleanup
    • input text and layout HTML code
    • 1st draft to Client for review
    • Sent back to Webmaster for corrections and improvements.
    • 2nd draft to Client for review

Once the 1st draft is given to the client we expect that the client will go through the material thoroughly. It is preferable to print out the site in its entirety and make changes and corrections on the copy and then fax the changes to us at 305-595-7059. The client has the opportunity to make two complete sets of changes on their web site. After those two complete sets of changes have been made then the client is notified. If additional changes are necessary after the initial two are granted with the contact, there will be an hourly rate that will apply for changes above the two that are granted with the program.

The revisions usually can be made within 72 hours depending on the extent of the revisions. If the revisions are minor they can be made within 72 hours. If they are extensive then it may take a little bit longer. Metanet.net makes a great effort to get the changes made in a timely manner.

Once the site is in for its first set of revisions and those changes are made the client is contacted again to review those changes.

Upon completing the review process an authorization form to release the files to the domain will be sent via fax. Upon receiving the approval form in our office at 305-595-7059, the files will be uploaded within 24 to 48 hours to the server and will become a "live" site.
